Still Standing
And that seems such a blessing. Not forsaken, not defeated, able to laugh, and grateful.

These Days
Sometimes I feel like I'm standing in the middle of an intersection and life is whipping past me from a dozen different directions.
My oldest daughter is getting married next month, but thankfully will live nearby after a honeymoon in Ireland.
My son is graduating from high school and heading for Hungary for the summer.
Then he leaves for college in CA.
My best friend has cancer. I am more thankful for him than ever.
My Dad is coming out a week after the wedding for cancer surgery, and my parents seem more precious to me every day.
My little sister is moving from NC to TN next month and will live about two miles from me.
I turn 48 next week -- that means 49 is next...
All of a sudden it seems I am 'The Old Guy' surrounded by hip, young adults in my life who look to me for help, and sometimes even, advice. I am glad I can pray for strength and wisdom, and that the Lord gives freely from His supply.

Talking to myself...
That's what posting seems like sometimes. Just getting those thoughts out in front where I can take a good look at them.
It's So Easy...
No it's not that cool old song, I'm just confessing how we can all hide so discreetly behind the personas we carefully invent and present on the web. Well, I'm about to go public with this one -- casting a note in a bottle upon the cyber-sea to see who may find it and perchance benefit from the experience...

Just checking in...
Truth, is, I often forget I have this site -- life keeps me too busy. Or should I say, 'stuff' keeps me too busy for life! Three nearly grown kids at home and still settling in to Tennessee. I sorely miss Appalachia this time of year -- it was always my favourite, when the air is clear, the humidity is down, the sky is perfectly blue and the temperature is just crisp enough for that jeans jacket that's been in the closet all summer. You can smell a wood fire early in the morning, and if you're really fortunate, you will escape into the mountains for a good hike -- the higher the altitude, the better. Countless afternoons and mornings were spent with my Dad on those glorious hills, gilded with the splendour of October. The fingerprints of the Creator are obvious all over His creation, and you can hear yourself think. If you listen closely, you can hear His thoughts, too, which are wonderful and innumerable concerning me and you.
Psalm 40:5 Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done;
And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered. NKJV
